Amanda’s Story…

In a bid to improve my health and my work life balance I left full time teaching to work part time in an advisory role, which for the first time in 10 years gave me some free time to pursue my passion of baking…

Whenever there was a dinner party or bbq I was always asked to bake brownies, so I decided to turn a hobby and passion into a business.

I carried out my research and everyone else locally was making cakes and cupcakes so I knew I could bring something unique to the local area.

I ordered some extra baking trays, played around for weeks with flavours, purchased a logo and bought a gazebo and fold up table so I could attend local events at weekends.

Some events were busy, some were quiet but I enjoyed meeting people and seeing the reaction on their faces as they enjoyed something I had made.

A month before lockdown I had set up a product range that could be posted after many sample boxes had been purchased and trial runs of posting them to friends and family to ensure they would arrive safely.

Then lockdown hit and I was ready to launch a product that could be posted anywhere within the UK and it expanded the business beyond what I had imagined. I also began to offer a local delivery service, which has turned out to be very popular.

I moved into a unit in April 2021 as I out grew the kitchen and the beginning of 2022 saw the business join up with Just Eat and take part in some local food and drink festivals as well as Lowestoft’s First Light Festival. It has been quite the journey so far!

In July 2022, the business turned three.
